Who are Kate, Jo, and Al?

Kate is our decision-making AI. She reads every lead the moment it lands, scores it 1 to 5 stars, writes a one-paragraph reason for the score, and decides what should happen next: hand to a human, dispatch a voice call, or trigger an intake form.

Jo and Al are AI voice agents. When Kate decides a lead needs a call, your firm's voice (Jo or Al, whichever you picked at setup) calls within minutes, asks the qualifying questions Kate flagged as missing, and updates the score with what's captured on the call. Each workspace uses one voice consistently across inbound and outbound calls.

How does Kate decide whether to dispatch a voice call?

Each firm sets its own listeners. The most common one: if a lead scores below 3 stars, dispatch Jo or Al to gather more qualifying information. Once a lead reaches 4 or 5 stars, the firm chooses whether to send the intake form manually or let Kate trigger it automatically.

You can also configure listeners on lead source (paid ads vs organic), arrival time (after-hours vs business hours), and lead pattern (matches a high-value historical profile).

How does the inbound phone number work?

NorthernPlus provides your firm a phone number. You publish it on your website and marketing. Inbound calls are answered by Jo or Al, intaken in real time, scored by Kate, and dropped into your dashboard with full transcript and structured answers. Your team gets the qualified leads; the agent handles the rest.

What happens when a client needs more than one matter?

Kate identifies the shared fields across matters and builds one bespoke form for the engagement. The client fills out their name, address, and date of birth once, even if you're handling their estate plan, a property closing, and a trust update. Each matter still gets its own audit trail and conflict check; the client just doesn't see the seams.

Can my paralegal edit a field while the client is filling out the form?

Yes. Co-edit is a first-class feature. Your team can correct a typo, add a clarification, or fix a mis-mapped address while the client is mid-form. Every change is captured with timestamp, editor, and version, in an audit trail your bar association can review.

/ Compliance & ethics
Will an AI voice agent get my firm in trouble with the bar?

Jo and Al do intake, not legal advice. They identify themselves as AI agents at call start, capture consent, and stay strictly within the qualifying questions your firm authorizes. State bars that have weighed in on AI client intake (most through ethics opinions on chatbots and screening tools) have approved the use case when the AI is identified, supervised, and limited to non-advice screening.

We recommend looping in your malpractice carrier and your state bar's ethics hotline before launch. We're happy to participate in those conversations directly.

Are AI calls TCPA-compliant?

Yes, by construction. Recorded consent disclosure at call start. Do-not-call list integration. Time-of-day enforcement using the recipient's local time zone (no calls before 8am or after 9pm local). State-level variants honored where applicable, including Florida's Mini-TCPA.

That said, TCPA is an active and evolving area of law. We stay current; we recommend you do too.

Do you offer a Business Associate Agreement (BAA)?

BAA execution is available on the Advanced tier today. Full BAA-eligible posture across every subprocessor in our stack is on the roadmap; ask your contact at NorthernPlus for the current state and we'll share specifics under NDA.

Where does our data live?

US data centers by default. EU residency is available on the Advanced tier for firms with the regulatory requirement. We'll walk you through the specific subprocessor list and physical hosting in your demo or under NDA in a procurement review.

What's the SOC 2 status?

SOC 2 Type II is in progress. We can share our current control framework, monitoring posture, and timeline under NDA during procurement. See our Security page for the full posture across other compliance dimensions.

/ Switching & integrations
Does NorthernPlus integrate with Clio, MyCase, Smokeball, or PracticePanther?

Yes. NorthernPlus is practice-management-agnostic. We work with whatever software your firm picked last decade and whatever you migrate to next. Specific integration depth varies by platform; ask in your demo for the current state for your stack.

Can we migrate our existing intake forms and contacts?

Yes. Migration is a flat-fee professional service. We import your forms, contacts, email templates, and document templates from your existing system, and validate the result with you before cutover. We share specifics in your demo.

What if my firm uses no practice management software at all?

You're our cleanest install. NorthernPlus handles intake end to end: lead capture, scoring, voice intake, form, conflict check, document upload, and matter creation. You can run a small firm on NorthernPlus alone, or layer practice management on top later.

/ Pricing & trial
Where's the pricing page?

We don't publish pricing while we're in private beta. We share specifics in a 30-minute demo so we can match your firm's intake volume, practice mix, and compliance needs to the right tier. Most firms land on Professional. Book a demo and we'll talk numbers.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every plan includes a 7-day free trial, no credit card required, after your demo and onboarding. We want you to see Kate score real leads and Jo or Al run real calls before you commit.

When does general availability start?

We'll announce GA when the product is ready for it, not before. Until then, we're admitting partner firms into the private beta on a rolling basis. Join the waitlist or book a demo to be considered.

Question we didn't cover?

Bring it to your demo. We'll answer it on the call, with the founder, in 30 minutes.
